New Inspection Requirements - Introducing Sure•Clamp™ Access

As a building owner, the new fire and smoke damper inspection requirements create further challenges for existing duct construction methods, more specifically proper access to these dampers. It is next to impossible to properly maintain your fire and smoke dampers unless you have adequate access to them.

In accordance with the 2021 International Mechanical Code (IMC) Section 607.4.1, access provisions for dampers with fusible links, internal operators, or a combination of both necessitate an access door measuring no less than 12 inches (305mm) square or the inclusion of a removable duct section. Moreover, the current 2023 editions of both the State of Florida Mechanical Code (Eight Edition, Section 607.4.1 Access) and Building Code (Eight Edition, Section 717.4.1 Access) stipulate the mandatory use of removable duct sections for the inspection and maintenance of smaller-sized fire and smoke dampers, as delineated above.

Working through an access door causes poor quality inspections that increase your exposure to lawsuits. By installing a Sure•Clamp ™ Access (patented), a technician is able to properly inspect your dampers for mandatory requirements while taking 50% less time to make these inspections.  This removable duct section allows the technician to comply with maintenance requirements. Reduce your costs and maintain your compliance by demanding Sure•Clamp ™ Access (patented) be installed in your HVAC system.
